Introduction
SMR is a dual camera system able to record 6 D.O.F. (six degrees of freedom) spindle motion being X,Y,Z, steer/toe, camber as well as wheel rotation. This system can record up to 250mm of vertical displacement up to 500 Hz and withstands 10g impacts. The SMR system allows data collection of spindle path and speed. This can be used to develop packaging or geometry configurations.
Installation
SMR comes with a universal mounting kit to allow installation and setup on many different ground vehicles. Unlike traditional systems, SMR requires no mechanical interface to the wheel, resulting in no additional unsprung mass. SMR is designed using high strength, lightweight components resulting in minimal reactive mass, greatly enhancing accuracy during impact events.
Controller
SMR is operated by a controller that resides in the passenger compartment with a compact touch screen monitor for basic operations and recording management.
Data Collection
SMR can record both digital and analog data simultaneously and can be integrated and time synchronized with other data collection equipment such as accelerometers and load cells. Digital data can be viewed following each recording.
The output data is compatible with other post processing programs through *.txt, *.csv, *.m and also multiple CAD system file such as *.igs.
Simulation
SMR data from track testing can be used to develop drive files for use on multi poster test rig and once developed, SMR can be used to validate accuracy of the drive file.
